CAUTION: Observe the correct installation
position when fitting the crankshaft with the
connecting rods. The connecting rod alterna-
tor side has to face to cylinder 1.

CAUTION: Install crankshaft locking tool
(P/N 529 035 900) (refer to CRANKSHAFT
LOCKING TOOL) right away to put crankshaft
in TDC position before installing the camshaft
and rockers (refer to CYLINDER AND CYLIN-
DER HEAD).
CRANKSHAFT LOCKING TOOL
The engine must be locked for removal and in-
stallation work on crankshaft and camshaft. The
opening for the crankshaft locking tool is located in
the ignition cover and in crankcase alternator side.

Removal
Remove:
– plug screw no. 26
– plug screw no. 25.
CAUTION: Pull out the plug screw with utmost
care to prevent it from being dropped into the
crankcase during dismantling.
Installation
Fit the plug screw no. 25 with Loctite 243 (P/N 293
800 060).
Torque plug screw no. 25 to 8 N•m(71lbf•in).
Replace O-ring no. 27 during installation and
grease it with Molykote 111 (P/N 413 707 000).
Torque plug screw no. 26 to 3 N•m(26lbf•in).
PISTON
Removal
Remove:
– cylinder head (refer to CYLINDER AND CYLIN-
DER HEAD)
