4-2 Troubleshooting
Below is a collection of general ask ed ques tions. To check general asked questions bas ed on a specific

Ques tion 1: I cannot see some opt ions that were inc luded in previous BI OS af ter updat ing BIOS. Why ?
Answ er: Some advanced options are hidden in new BI OS v ersion. Pleas e pres s Ct rl and F1 k eys after
ent ering BIOS m enu and you will be able to see t hes e opt ions .
Quest ions 2: W hy is the light of m y key board/ opt ical mouse still on aft er computer shut s dow n?
Ans wer: In s ome boards, a small amount of electricity is kept on st andby aft er com puter shut s dow n
and that's why t he light is s till on.
Quest ion 3: Why cannot I use all f unc tions in EasyT une 4?
Answer: The availability of t he listed f unc tions in EasyTune 4 depends on the MB chipset. If the c hipset
doesn't support certain func tions in Easy Tune 4, thes e func tions will be loc ked automatic ally and y ou
will not be able to us e them .
Quest ion 4: Why do I fail to install RAID and ATA drivers under Win 2000 and XP on boards that support
RAID f unction after I connect the boot H DD to IDE3 or ID E4 ?
Answer: First of all, you need to sav e some files in the CD-ROM to a floppy disk before installing
driv ers. You also need to go through some rat her different steps in the installation proc ess. T heref ore,
we suggest that you refer to t he inst allat ion s teps in the RAID manual at our webs ite.

Quest ion 5: How do I clear CMOS?
Answ er: If your board has a Clear CMOS jumper, please refer t o t he C lear CM OS steps in the manual.
If your board doesn't hav e such jumper, you can t ake off the on-board bat tery to leak voltage to clear
CMOS. Please refer to t he steps below:
Steps:
1. Turn of f power.
2. Disc onnect the power c ord from MB.
3. Take out the battery gently and put it as ide for about 10 minut es (Or you can use a metal object
t o connect the positive and negative pins in t he bat tery holder to m akethem short for one
minute).
4. Re-insert the batt ery t o the bat tery holder.
5. Connec t pow er cord to MB again and turn on power.
6. Press Del to enter BIOS and load Fail-Saf e Defaults.
7. Save changes and reboot the s yst em.
Quest ion 6: Why does sys tem s eem unstable after updating BIOS?
Answ er: Please remember to load Fail-Saf e Defaults (Or Load BIOS D efaults) after flas hing BI OS.
How ever, if the s ystem instabilit y s till remains, pleas e clear CMOS t o s olve the problem.
Quest ion 7: Why do I st ill get a weak sound after turning up t he speak er to t he max imum volum e?
Answ er: Pleas e make sure t he speaker you are us ing is equipped with an int ernal amplif ier. If not,
pleas e c hange anot her speak er with power/am plif ier and try again lat er.
Quest ion 8: How do I disable onboard VGA card in order t o add an ex ternal VGA card?
Ans wer: Gigabyte mot herboards will auto-detect t he ext ernal VGA card af ter it is plugged in, s o y ou
don't need to change any set ting m anually to disable the onboard VGA.
