Q-Flash

is a BIOS flas h utility embedded in Flas h ROM . With this
utilit y, users only hav e to st ay in t he BIOS menu when they want t o
update BI OS. Q-Flas h

allows users to flash BIOS w ithout any
utility in DOS or Windows . U sing Q-F lash
TM
indicating no more fooling around with any com plicat ed
ins truct ions and operating sy stem s ince it is in t he BIOS menu.
Pleas e note that becaus e updating BIOS has potential risk, pleas e do it with caution!! We are
sorry that Gigabyte Technology Co. , Lt d is not respons ible f or damages of system because
of incorrect m anipulation of updat ing BIOS to avoid any claims f rom end-users.
Before You Begin:
Before you s tart updating BIOS w ith the Q-Flash
TM
utility, please follow the steps below first.
1. D ow nload the latest BIOS for y our motherboard from Gigabyte's webs ite.
2. Extract t he BIOS file downloaded and save t he BIOS file (the one w it h m odel name.F xx . F or
exam ple, 8KNXPU.Fba) to a floppy disk.
3. R eboot your PC and press Del to enter BIOS menu.
The BI OS upgrading guides below are separated int o two part s.
If your motherboard has dual-BIOS, please refer to Part On e.
If your mot herboard has single-BIOS, please refer to Part Two .

Updating BIOS with Q-Flash

Some of Gigaby te motherboards are equipped with dual BIOS. In t he BIOS menu of the motherboards
supporting Q-F lash and Dual BIOS, the Q-Flash utility and D ual BI OS utility are combined in the same
screen. This sect ion only deals with how t o use Q-F lash utility.
In the foll owing section s, we take GA-8K NXP Ul tra as the exampl e to gu ide yo u h ow to flash
BIOS fro m an older ver sion to th e latest version. F or example, from Fa3 to Fba.
