Configuring your data or fax software
Once pr operly connected and con figu r ed, your PC will
rec og n ize y o u r p h o n e as a n e x tern al fax/mo d em . H owev er,
y o ur fa x o r d a ta softwa re m ay a lre ad y b e c o nfig ure d to u s e
the existing PCMCIA or internal modem.
Before you can use your phone to send and receive data
or fax es, yo u mu st reconfigure you r fax or data software
so that it uses your phone rather than your existing
modem. You may consider creating a separate set of
dialing properties to use when your phone is connected,
rather than changing any existing settings.
Plea se r efer to th e do cu men tation or onlin e h elp files for
your data or fax application when creating new dialing
configurations, or modifying existing settings.
To start a data or fax call
Note: The restrict calls feature may affect any data/fax calls you
attempt. If you experience problems, check your call restri ctions.
See page57 for details.

Initiate a data or fax call using your data or fax
software conf i gured f or your phone.

When trying to connect to the network, the phone

Termina te th e data c all from yo ur data so ftware; fax
calls typically t erminate automatical l y.
Note: Av oid termina ting a c all by p r essin g yo ur phon e’s k ey.
Th is may cause your data or fax app licatio n to temporarily lock up
and could cause loss of data.
Note: Data or fax calls cannot be initiated using your phone’s
keypad. All data and fax calls must be initiated using the data or
f ax software.
