7. Never clean or perform maintenance on the appliance
without first removing the plug from the socket; in fact,
turning the knob for adjusting the te mperature to the " 0" ·
setting is not s ufficie nt to elimina te all e lec tric al c onta ct with
the mains.
8. Bef ore having your old refrigerator picked up for disposal,
re mov e or ma ke inope rable any locking de v ice s to pre ve nt c hil-
dren w ho might play in or around the appliance f rom being
locked inside.
9. Before calling for service/assistance in the case of malfunc-
tion, consult the chapter entitled “ Is There a Problem? to de-
termine whe the r it is possible to e limina te the proble m. do not
try to repair the problem by trying to access the internal c om-
ponents of the appliance.
10. If damaged, the power supply cord on this appliance
must necessarily be replaced by our service centre because
special tools are required for replacement.
11. D o not use e lec tric a pplianc es inside the c ompartment for
food storage, if these are not those recommended by the
manufacturer.
12. At the end of the functional life of your appliance –
containing c yc lopentane gas in the ins ula tion foam and perhaps
gas R600a (isobut ane) in t he ref rigerat ion circuit – t he lat t er
should made safe before being sent to the dump.
For this operation, please contact your dealer or the Local
Organisation in charge of waste disposal.
ATTENTION

Your Ref rigerator is built t o Int ernat ional safety st andards
( EN60) and ha s be en a wa rded the Europea n approv al ma rk
( IMQ) for complia nc e with UK ele ctrica l sa fety re quireme nts.
It also me ets the EC sta ndards on the prev ention a nd elimi-
na tion of ra dio inte rfere nce (EC direc tive 87/308 - 02.06.89).
1. This appliance must not be installed outdoors - not even in
an a r ea protec te d by a roof. It is e xtreme ly da ngerous to lea ve
it exposed to rain or storms.
2. It must only be used by adults and e xclusiv ely to refrigera te
and freeze foodstuffs, following the instructions for use con-
tained in this manual.
3. D o not e ve r touc h or ha ndle the a pplianc e with ba re fe e t or
with wet hands or feet.
4. It is highly recommended that you do not use extension
c ords or multiple soc ket ada pte rs. I f the re frige rator is installe d
be twe e n ca binets, ma ke sure tha t the c or d is not be nt or da n-
gerously pinched or compressed.
5. Never pull on the cord or the refrigerator to remove the
plug from the wall socket - this is very dangerous.
6. Never touch the cooling components within the appliance,
especially w it h w et hands because t his could result in injury.
Never put ice cubes just removed f rom t he f reezer int o your
mouth bec aus e they could stick to your mouth and c ause burns.
Safety - a good habit to get into.
Installation
To ensure that the appliance operates properly and to
reduce energy consumpt ion, it is import ant t hat the
appliance is installed correctly.
Ventilation
The compressor and condenser generat e heat and, t here-
f ore, need to be ventilated properly. Rooms wit h less than
perfect ventilation ar e not very suited for insta llation of the
appliance. Theref ore, it should be inst alled in a room w it h
an opening (w indow or French window) t hat provide the
a ppr opria te a mount of a ir re-c ir c ula tion. I t is a lso importa nt
tha t the r oom not be too humid.
Away from Heat
This a pplia nce should not be positioned in a pla ce whe re it is
directly e xposed to sunlight or direc tly ne xt to an iven/hob.
Electrical Connection and Earthing
Before proc ee ding with the ele ctrica l conne c tion, make sure
that the voltage indic ated on the ra ting pla te , loc ated a t the
bot t om lef t near t he vegetable crisper, corresponds t o t he
mains voltage in your home and that the socket is fitted
with a standard earthing wire in accordance with safety
standards for 46/90 systems. If the socket is not fitted with
an earthing wir e, the manufacturer will not be held liability
for a ny da ma ge s a nd or injurie s a rising out of the use of the
applia nce. D o not use multiple sockets or a dapters.
Pos ition the appliance in s uch a way that you can ac ces s
the socket where it is plugged in.
Insufficient power?
The electrical socket must be able to handle the maximum
power load of the appliance, which is indicated on the rat-
ing plat e locat ed at t he bot t om lef t next t o the veget able
crisper.

After the appliance has bee n delive r ed, plac e it in the v erti-
cal upright position and wait at least 3 hours before insert-
ing the plug into the socket in order to ensure that it func-
tions prope rly.
