NAM selection
The Number Assignment Module (NAM) is the phone’ s
storage location containing the assigned phone
number(s) and other system information. This
information is entered by your service provider when
programming your phone when your phone is first
acti vated.
In most systems, your phone can be activated in up to 2
different service areas (e.g. one in Dallas and another in
Chicago), each giving your phon e a different phone
number or account.
Only o n e num b e r c a n b e a c tiv e a t a tim e. When y o u se le c t
a phone number, you’re also selecting which system
yo u’re using a s yo ur hom e syste m (
see Sy stem Selectio n” on
pa ge65
) . The first p h o ne n umb e r d isp la ye d w ith this m e n u
is t he current l y selected number.
Note: It may not be necessa ry to have two NAMs fo r y ou r p ho ne if
your service provider has servi ce or roaming agreements for each
area in which you wish to use your phone. Contact your service
provider for details.

Note: You need at least one active number to make call s. You can
not change from one NAM to another during a call.
NAM update
The Number Assignment Module (NAM) update featu re
m ay ap p ea r in y o u r p h o n e . It allo ws yo u to ea sily ac tiv ate
or reac tivate your phone without having to go to your
service provider.
In some cases, when you try to connect to your service
provider, the following message may appear on the
di splay before the cal l is initiat ed.
