TROUBLESHOOTING
Fault Possible cause Rectification
Lack of fuel. Fill tank; check tank bleeding;
check fuel filter.
Poor quality, contaminated fuel,
old fuel in tank.
Always use fresh fuel from clean
containers; clean carburettor.

Air filter contaminated. Clean air filter (see operating in-
structions from engine manufac-
turer).
No ignition spark. Clean spark plug, use a new
one if necessary, check ignition
cable, check ignition system.

Engine does not start.
Too much fuel in engine com-
bustion chamber due to repea-
ted starting attempts.
Unscrew spark plug and dry off
Starter battery flat or weakly
charged.
Charge starter battery.
Safety switch on operator's seat
does not function.
Sit on operator's seat correctly;
switch defective.
Safety switch on brake pedal
does not function.
Press brake pedal down fully.
Mower mechanism switched
on.
Switch off mower mechanism.
Starter does not work.
Fuse on (+) cable of starter bat-
tery.
Check fuse and fit a new one if
necessary.
Grass too long or too wet. Correct cutting height; make cle-
arance for mower mechanism by
moving back a short distance.
Discharge channel/mower deck
blocked.
Clean discharge channel/mower
deck. Stop engine and take out
ignition key!
Air filter contaminated. Clean air filter (see operating in-
structions from engine manufac-
turer).
Carburettor setting incorrect. Have setting corrected. (Custo-
mer service workshop)
Blade severely worn. Change blade. (Customer ser-
vice workshop)
Engine is losing power.
Driving speed too fast. Reduce driving speed.
