Troubleshooting
The following checklist will help you remedy
proble m s y ou may enco unter with your unit.
Before going through the chec klist below, check
the connection and operat in g pr ocedures .
General
No sound.
• Press the (+) sid e of (VOL) to adju st th e
volume.
• Cancel the ATT fun ction.
• Set the f ader control to the centre positio n for
a 2-speaker system.
The message “LP” appears in the display.
MDLP tracks cannot be played back. (MDX-
M690 only)
An optional MD unit does not conform to
MDLP p lay back.
t Use this unit to playback the MDLP tracks.
The contents of the memory have been
erased.
• The reset button has been press ed.
• Store again into the memory.
• The power co rd or battery has been
disconnected.
• The power co nnecting cor d i s not connec te d
properly.
No beep sound.
The beep sound is ca ncelled (pag e 34).
Indications disappear from/do not appear i n
the display.
• The cloc k display dis appears if yo u press
(OFF) for 2 seconds.
t Press (OFF) again for 2 seconds to
di splay the clock.
• Remove the front panel and clean the
connectors. See “Cleaning the connectors”
(page 36) for details.
Stored stations and correct time are erased.
The fuse has blown.
Makes noise when the ignition key is in the
ON, ACC, or OFF position.
The leads are not matched correctly with the
car’s accessory power c onnector.
No power is being supp lie d to the unit .
• Chec k th e connecti on. If everything is in
order, check the f use.
• The car does not have an ACC position.
t Press (SOURCE) (or insert a disc) to turn
on the unit.
The power is continuously supplied to the
unit.
The car do es not have an AC C position.
The po we r aerial does not extend.
The power aeri al does not have a relay bo x.
The rotary commander RM-X5S cannot be
operated.
Rotate the dial at the bottom of the rotary
comm ander unt i l it ca n be operat ed.
CD/MD playback
A disc cannot be loaded.
• Another CD/MD is already loaded.
• The CD/MD is forcibly inserted upside down
or in the wrong way.
Playbac k does not begin.
• D ir t y or defective disc.
• CD-R that is not f inalized, or a CD-RW.
• You tried to playback a CD-R not designed
for au di o use.
• S om e CD-Rs m a y not play due to its
recording equipment or the disc condition.
A disc is automatically ejected.
The ambient temperature exceeds 50°C.
CD will not be ejected.
The operation buttons d o not fun c tion .
Press th e reset button.
The sound skips from vibration.
• (CDX-M770, CDX-M670)
The unit is installed at an angle of more than
60°.
(MDX-M690)
The unit is installed at an angle of more than
20°.
• The unit is not installed in a sturdy part of
the car.
The sound skips.
Dirty or defective disc.
Cannot turn off the “--------” indication.
You entered the name edit mode.
t Press (LIST) for 2 seconds.
Radio reception
Preset tuning is not possible .
• S t or e the correct frequency in the me m ory.
• The broa dcast signa l i s t oo weak .
